Enter Our Story

A Glimmer of Hope
Amidst the loneliness brought by her move to Kentucky, our goldsmith Maria struggled with depression and anxiety. In this dark chapter, she found her solace through the crafting of delicate wire wrapped jewelry. In 2011, she opened her small Etsy shop to sell her wire wrapped earrings and necklaces. For a while, her mother was the sole purchaser of her jewelry.

The Calling
In 2014, Maria and her husband moved back to Michigan where she then enrolled in art school in Milwaukee. She continued refining her jewelry making and started dabbling in simple silver soldering. In her exploration, Maria found her calling to be the magic between notions of florals, jewels, and antiquity.

New Chapters
In 2015, Maria dropped out of art school to follow what made her soul sing in her jewelry designs.

Forged in Fine Gold
Maria became an apprentice under two master goldsmiths in Milwaukee. Under their tutelage, she learned and honed her goldsmithing techniques. The North Way Studio’s first gold ring was born!

Fantasy and Truth Entwine Into One
In 2021, The North Way Studio moved from Etsy into our own online realm to give Maria full freedom of her vision. Since then, Maria has continued her work conjuring heirlooms from daydreams.

An Illuminated Gate Created
The Illuminated No. 1 ring and Ether Gate rings were crafted into existence, heralding the new enchanted world of The North Way Studio.

Visit Our World

The North Way Studio lies amongst the maples and birches of the Keweenaw Peninsula of Michigan. While still a private studio for now, we hope to be opening our flagship store in 2025. We eagerly await your presence in our intimate sanctuary, where every visit unfolds with a private appointment to ensure a tranquil and immersive visit to our realm.
